What's On Your Workdesk? WOYWW

I know my studio and desk still look kinda bare but slowly, slowly, wins the race...isn't that what 'they' say (whomever 'they are'?).
I'm feeling quite pleased with my little self this week, because I have been visiting this space quite a lot...well three sessions to be precise. I'd love to spend more time here but it's a juggling act at the moment. I seem to want to do so much with my day and it's annoying that there just isn't enough time!
I apologise to all the WOYWW's out there that I didn't get to visit during the last week. I really did intend to but here we are at Wednesday again!
So what's been happening...well I'm still doodling...or doing line drawings, or zentangles ~ or whatever you wish to call my art of the moment? I've still got quite a few designs in my head (which is wonderful...they are all queuing to get out!) so I'll carry on with these for the time being, although the silk painting ideas are coming flooding in too.
How good is that light...I'm trying to remember at what time I took this photo yesterday (see I'm so keen) I think it might have been mid morning by the look of the direction of light.Yep, I know it's special and I am really appreciating it : D
Now on to what's on the desk....
I think it's beginning to look a little busy eh? I know tidy desks aren't allowed....hehe
Busy desks mean lots of creativity going on...

And onto my work from the weekend....
Now I need to explain that this piece is dedicated to Laurie at 'When the bough breaks' (pop over if you haven't visited her before because I'm sure you'll have a great time) because she has played a big role in inspiring me to get back to my art. I know she loves owl's and this photo I pinched borrowed from her header (Oh Laurie, I hope you don't mind because I didn't want to ask you in advance ~ that would have spoilt the surprise ~ I hope you'll forgive me?)

Moving on swiftly.... so here he is....my interpretation.
What do you think?

So if you haven't a clue what I'm on about or visited What's on your workdesk Wednesday or WOYWW before, then nip across and visit Julia over at  http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/  Take a peek at an incredible amount of interesting idea's, creativity and a whole great bunch of arty people! It's fun....

Thank you for your visit here today and I hope you come back soon. Next time I'll pop the kettle on....
Enjoy :D

  1. Laurie, is one of the nicest gals I know. I am sure she won't mind! Love what you have done with the owl. So pretty! Love your work space as well. It is so much larger than mine. You would be amazed to see what I work in. I'll have to take a picture! Love and hugs to you! xxoo

    1. Well that makes two of you then Marie ;)
Both of you have played a big role in helping me with creating both my blog and getting me started drawing again. Next may well be the silk painting.
Now you can see how frustrated I was to have such a great space but unable to do anything in it. I now feel comfortable going in there and each time it just gets better.
I'd love to see your space if you're willing to let me peek?
      Enjoy your day xoxo

    1. Oh please...you’re embarrassing me Angy ;) but it's great to get such great feedback. Thank you so much.
I think we're always cautious when we open up and show our creative side. I was especially nervous with not doing anything for the last 12 years. Listening to all the compliments it's certainly encouraged me to carry on :D
      I'll nip across to you now...ooh I'm nervous x
p.s. I've just thought you weren't being kind about my doodling, just so I'd take part??? ;)

  11. such a joy it is to come here, your work is such an inspiration, of course I don't mind, that header is actually a painting by a very Famous Canadian artist Robert Bateman, I found it on google.I didn't ask his permission to use it from google, lol!!!!! Maybe I should,,, ummmm, I guess I should check, but I'm so glad you found inspiration in it, I love taht about blogging we can inspire people and be inspired

    1. That's brilliant to hear Laurie, and also interesting...I'll have to go and have a look at Robert Bateman ;D

I wanted to draw an owl and you came immediately to mind...I know how much you love them, so then it was a perfect way to pay tribute to you and to thank you for your influence in helping me start creating again. I've got two new pieces of work completed this week already...whoohoo!

I hope your blog redesign isn't too much and I love you're smiley new picture :D

Enjoy your weekend and thanks again for helping me find my mojo! xoxo

If you haven't seen his work before everyone go check it out...now that's how I'd like to paint. X

  12. As much as I'm a colour nut when it comes to fabric, in art I always go for the black and white patterned stuff - it just floats my boat!! And I think our owl is fantastic :) It's weird seeing your spirals branch as well because this week, for the first time in ages, I picked up my black fine liner pen and did some drawing.... of a tree with spirals on!! I may post it on next week's WOYWW, not sure yet.
    Love your blog btw :)

    1. Hi Jan, thanks for stopping by...I'm a colour freak when I'm silk painting but I also really like black and white, so these zentangles are doing it for me at the moment!
I'm not sure how many more I'll do...I've done two new ones for next WOYWW which is great. I don't want to stop the flow now its finally started.
I'd love to see your tree:)
      Have a great weekend :D

  13. Now how could Laurie mind? That is such a lovely tribute to her and her blog. Nice work. Do you zone out when you do that sort of line work..it sounds very appealing! And you're right about the light in your room, but hey, as long as you're enjoying it..

    1. Well I was a little worried after posting him, because I know you should always ask permission before taking anything from someone's blog...but I was so excited and carried away on my creating frenzy, plus I wanted to surprise her! Thankfully all okay and now I know about Robert Bateman the original brilliant Canadian painter, who painted the owl. Now that's how I'd like to paint!
I do zone out and it feels very theraputic when drawing these doodles...the hand and mind seem to just go somewhere on their own. I'm really loving it and the room ~ I've got two new zentangles for Wednesday already :D

    2. I forgot to say thanks to you for hosting this WOYWW because that along with Laurie made me finally get started.
I thought if I had to show something on my workdesk every Wednesday it would keep me motivated ~ and it has! ;D

  15. Your owl is beautiful and I'm so glad you've decided to create again, it's just good for your soul. I too find it hard to create in a new space. Whenever I move it's always difficult to find a corner that feels right to do my art in.

    1. Hi there,
I'm getting more and more comfortable with the room and the light is amazing (it only took me to lift the blinds to make the room feel so much different ~ what a numpty)
I'm am feeling so much better now that I'm back being arty and I now know its what I should always do.
      Have a great week :D

  16. You have a gorgeous work space. I was impressed with the storage under the windows, too. A great place to hide art supplies, I bet.

I don't draw and I certainly don't doodle. BUT, I sure like what you have made and that owl is a HOOT (sorry, couldn't resist).

I'm very late, but I'm having Blogger issues. I think I'm #9 this week, but Julia linked me, so it doesn't go to the direct post.

    1. Hello Bluebeard and Elizabeth, thanks for stopping by.
My work space is pretty good but I'm only just getting to know it. I think this is week three of using the space. Terrible when you think I've been in this house since July...but I hope to make up for it! :D
I'm also late and seem to be running out of time this week...
Good Luck with your Blogger issues...it can be quite a trial sometimes ;D
